Digi-dreams and link love 8/12/06

I've been having digitized dreams for the last few months, in which there is a blurring of the line between the temporal plane and the digital realm and events unfold as if online, "pages" loading, links followed like Alice Through the Looking Glass. Last night I dreamt I clicked on a link and found myself in front of a beautiful house, standing alone atop a green levee, with big water looming ominously all across the horizon. I knocked (clicked) on the door and could "see" a woman with two daughters inside but she wouldn't answer my knocking. I searched for my cell phone to call an unidentified real estate agent for help and woke up. I know there was more before it, but this is what I can remember with the help of some very sleepy notes scribbled in the dark.
Online community and interactivity have wholly captivated me since my first exposure almost a decade ago, and our portfolio of patents and pending patents hinges largely on the definition of interactivity as it pertains to the Internet. I've been particularly amazed by the manner in which NOLA Bloggers are using interactivity to spread their message, increasing their reach, the volume with which they speak to the world for New Orleans and the number of people who hear it. Their determined, creative and cooperative use of technology to reach a wider audience has been impressive to witness and there are lessons to be learned by watching them closely, especially as we approach the next presidential election.
The schedule for the upcoming Rising Tide Conference has been posted on the wiki and, while the conference is dedicated specifically to discussion of the future of the city of New Orleans, there is strong emphasis on citizen journalism and using the internet to expand and project important communications by a group.
Even if you can't be there, it should be worth following via the web and I'm sure that these tech savvy and passionately articulate people will be shouting the message from the rooftops of their blogs. If you get a chance to give some link love to this effort, feel free to do so. I will post the final schedule here, later this week.
Finally (note: spoiler alert), for those of you who are interested in things that go zoom, at 1:00 PM (EDT) on Sunday, August 13th, on SpeedTV, I have it by good authority that there's a kick ass Star Mazda Series race from Trois Rivieres. I hear the winner (the race is not broadcast live, as you may have guessed) is an up-and-coming star, so to speak, and know for a fact that he's a pretty good left handed pitcher and an excellent first baseman (he's also a ham in championship pictures).

Peace, out ya'll.
Note: The Rising Tide Conference Schedule is currently available on the wiki linked above as well as many of the NOLA Bloggers' blogs.
